New York Kampo Institute
The NY Kampo Institute is located in central New York City and has been offering clinical services and educational programs in traditional Japanese medicine since 2001. The Institute’s director, Nigel Dawes, M.A. (Cantab.), L.Ac., has over 40 years experience and is an internationally recognized practitioner and teacher in the field of East Asian Medicine.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the New York Kampo Institute is to foster the dissemination of the practice and teaching of Kampo Medicine in the US and internationally. To this end, its operational body, the Kampo Fellowship, is committed to the transmission of quality education at the post-graduate level through seminars, symposiums and professional programs; to the publication of texts, case-studies and peer-reviewed journal articles; to outreach and collaborative projects in the professional community and to the training of a new generation of Kampo educators.
VISION
The NYKI vision is to establish ourselves as a premier institution in championing the teaching and practice of practical, applied herbalism in the Kampo tradition and spearheading the integration of Kampo medicine with health and wellness practices. We aim for a future where Kampo medicine is globally acknowledged and valued as an integral part of comprehensive health strategies, making significant contributions to patient care and preventive medicine.
